Who We Are
At MyHealthTeam, we create online social networks for people living with chronic health conditions. Across 70+ condition-focused communities and more than 4.5 million members, our mission is to help people feel less alone by fostering meaningful connections, trusted information-sharing, and supportive experiences rooted in real life.
Living with a chronic condition is often about far more than managing symptoms. It can mean navigating fatigue, uncertainty, healthcare systems, caregiving responsibilities, stigma, financial stress, and everyday life challenges that others may not fully understand. Our communities create spaces where members can connect with people who truly “get it,” learn from one another, and feel supported throughout their health journeys.
We are expanding our platform to serve the sickle cell disease (SCD) community — one of the most underserved populations in American healthcare. People living with SCD navigate extraordinary challenges: undertreated pain, stigma in clinical settings, complex barriers to insurance and disability benefits, and a healthcare system with a well-documented history of failing this community. We are building something different — a trusted, member-first space — and we are looking for someone who understands why that matters.
Who You Are
You’re someone who understands that great community work is not just about driving engagement. It’s about building trust, creating belonging, and helping people feel seen, supported, and informed during vulnerable moments in their lives.
You’re naturally empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and deeply curious about people’s lived experiences. You know how to facilitate conversations that feel authentic, supportive, and safe while balancing compassion with thoughtful moderation and strong judgment.
You understand the specific dynamics that shape the SCD experience: why patients are often dismissed or stigmatized in emergency rooms, why misinformation spreads so quickly, why navigating Social Security Disability can feel like a second full-time job, and why fatigue — though one of the most debilitating symptoms — is so often overlooked. You bring cultural fluency and credibility to conversations about race, health equity, and the particular trust challenges this community faces.
You’re comfortable navigating sensitive topics related to healthcare access, treatment journeys, stigma, misinformation, and social determinants of health — including housing, transportation, and nutrition — with care and professionalism.
We strongly value candidates who bring a deep understanding of and connection to the SCD community through professional work, advocacy, caregiving, or lived experience.
If you’ve built online communities, supported patient or advocacy groups, moderated highly engaged social spaces, or worked in mission-driven environments focused on connection and trust, we’d love to hear from you.
