Understanding microelectronics fabrication process – The student will learn key steps in microelectronic fabrication, with a focus on thin-film deposition and characterization. The project will introduce the student to principles of magnetron sputtering systems, including high vacuum technology, sample preparation, and metrology techniques such as thickness measurements. The student will also learn how sputtering is used to deposit thin films for microelectronics applications and how process parameters can influence film quality.

Education and Experience Requirements

• The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.

• Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.

• Applicants must be: Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution, Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
