Summary:

We are looking for a Traffic Management Systems Engineer to provide technical support for complex traffic management platforms and the IT infrastructure on which they operate.

This is a customer-facing systems engineering position combining Traffic Management Systems, servers, networks, databases, communications and application support. You will help maintain system availability, resolve operational issues and ensure customers can reliably operate critical transportation technology.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Act as a key technical contact for customers, responding to operational and systems issues.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and communications problems across traffic management environments.
• Design, install, configure and maintain networks, servers, workstations and application solutions.
• Configure, monitor and maintain customer data networks and systems.
• Support server and PC functionality, security and performance within Traffic Management Systems.
• Manage system backups, recovery processes and infrastructure maintenance.
• Manage and triage technical incidents against customer-specific SLAs through to resolution.
• Support hardware and software upgrades and coordinate with external vendors where required.
• Document network/system architecture, configuration settings, installations, modifications and troubleshooting procedures.
• Work with Project Managers, DBAs, Software Engineers and QA teams on system requirements, upgrades and application implementations.
• Train customer operations teams on platforms, products and new functionality.
• Participate in out-of-hours support for live operational systems.

Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years' experience in systems engineering, systems administration, infrastructure support or a similar technical position.
• Experience supporting Traffic Management Systems, ITS or other complex operational technology environments would be highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems, networks, equipment and network topologies.
• Experience with remote access technologies and database administration.
• Knowledge of communications infrastructure including fiber, cellular and wired networks.
• Strong hardware, software and network troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience supporting 24x7x365 operational environments.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, change control and configuration management.
• Strong customer-facing communication, training and technical documentation skills.
• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of equivalent technical training/relevant experience.
