Job Description:

Location: Remote – Must reside within Northeast U.S. (Preferably NY or NJ)  

Travel: Approximately 25–50% 

The Account Executive IV is responsible for driving enterprise revenue growth through the sale of Vertex tax technology solutions to new and existing customers across the Northeast United States. This role is designed for a senior, quota‑crushing enterprise SaaS seller with a modern, AI‑driven mindset and a proven ability to win complex, multi‑stakeholder deals.

You will engage executive leaders across Finance, Tax, and IT, positioning Vertex as a strategic partner for compliance, transformation, and operational efficiency. Success in this role requires a strong hunter mentality, intellectual curiosity, resilience, and disciplined execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, pursue, and close new enterprise business within an assigned Northeast territory
  • Own complex, multi‑threaded sales cycles, including executive alignment, negotiations, and contract execution
  • Build compelling business cases and ROI narratives for tax technology investments
  • Consistently achieve or exceed annual revenue targets (>$3M quota)
  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans aligned to company growth objectives
  • Partner closely with Marketing, SDRs, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless onboarding and long‑term customer value
  • Articulate and demonstrate the enterprise value of Vertex solutions to Finance, Tax, and IT leaders
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity tracking in CRM tools (MEDDPICC proficiency preferred)
  • Leverage relationships with alliance partners, system integrators, and internal teams to accelerate deal velocity

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of enterprise B2B SaaS sales experience with a consistent record of exceeding multi‑million‑dollar quotas
  • Proven success in closing complex, enterprise‑level deals involving multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles
  • Experience selling into Finance, Tax, or ERP‑driven environments (tax, compliance, or financial software strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of ERP, POS, and eCommerce ecosystems
  • Hunter mentality with a consultative, value‑based selling approach
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong territory planning, pipeline management, and forecasting discipline
  • Comfort operating in an AI‑driven, evolving technology landscape

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience selling tax technology or regulatory compliance solutions at enterprise scale
  • Familiarity with MEDDPICC or similar enterprise sales qualification methodologies
  • Experience managing strategic accounts across large, geographically distributed organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams
  • Background working with alliance partners and system integrators
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree

Pay Transparency Statement:

US Base Salary Range: $99,400.00 - $129,200.00

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
